Why a fitted cover matters

A fire pit lives outdoors permanently, and the parts that fail first are not the concrete body but the burner, the ignition and the fire media. Rain sitting in a burner trough is what corrodes it, and grit blown into a burner port is what makes a flame pattern go uneven. A fitted cover keeps water out of the trough and debris out of the ports, which is the difference between a burner that lights cleanly in year five and one that does not. It also keeps the media clean, which matters visually on fire glass.

Sizing to your model

These are sized to specific tables rather than sold as small, medium and large, because a loose cover is worse than none: it holds moisture against the surface and lifts in wind.
