A fire pit table is a gas fire feature built into a table body, so the flame sits in a recessed burner surrounded by usable surface. That is the practical difference from a plain fire pit: you get somewhere to set a drink or a plate. Height changes how the table gets used

Coffee height (13-17 inches) sits in front of a sofa and works for lounging - the Elementi Hampton is 13.8 inches, the Granville 17. Chat height (about 26 inches, like the Elementi Warren) puts the fire at standing and bar-stool level, which suits mingling. Dining height tables let you eat around the flame. Measure against the seating you already own before choosing.

Propane or natural gas

Propane models run from a standard 20 lb tank, and most designs conceal the tank inside the base or pair with a matching tank cover. Natural gas versions connect to a house line, never need refilling, and are ordered as a separate variant - a propane table cannot simply be switched over without the correct conversion kit.

Material and weight

Most tables here are hand-cast glass-fiber reinforced concrete: dense, weather-resistant, and heavy enough to stay put (typically 88-210 lbs). Porcelain-topped models such as the Elementi Plus line add a marble-look surface and higher output. Because each piece is hand-cast, small variations in tone and texture are normal and are part of the finish, not a defect.

Output and burner size

Most models produce 45,000 BTU, enough for real warmth at conversational distance; the Elementi Plus porcelain tables reach 60,000 BTU. A larger burner means a wider flame pattern, not necessarily more heat.

What is included

Lava rock or fire glass and a cover ship with the table. Wind screens, stainless lids that turn the burner into extra tabletop, and fitted tank covers are sold separately and are model-specific - match them to your exact table.

Can you roast marshmallows on a propane fire pit?

Yes. The flame is clean-burning propane, so marshmallows taste the same as over wood. The caution is the fire media: sugar drips onto lava rock or fire glass and burns on, and over time that residue discolours the media and can partly block burner ports. If you roast often, use a screen or replace the media occasionally, and let the burner run a few minutes afterwards to burn off residue.

How do you light a propane fire pit table?

Open the tank valve, press and hold the control knob to release gas, and press the igniter button - the spark lights the burner within a few seconds. Turn the knob to set flame height. If it does not catch on the first try, wait a moment for gas to clear before retrying, which prevents a large initial flare.

Can you use a propane fire pit indoors?

No. These are outdoor appliances only. They consume oxygen and produce combustion by-products, so they need open-air ventilation. Covered patios and pergolas can work if there is generous overhead clearance and open sides - check the manual for the exact clearance your model requires.

How do you put out a gas fire pit?

Turn the control knob to off and close the propane tank valve (or the gas shut-off for natural gas). The flame stops immediately - there are no embers to extinguish - but the burner and surrounding surface stay hot for several minutes, so wait before fitting the cover.

Do fire pit tables need a cover?

A cover is worth using. Every table we sell ships with one. It keeps rain out of the burner and tank compartment, and keeps debris out of the media, which is the main cause of uneven flames later on.
